Best Gluten-Free Frozen Waffles (Taste Test)
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. To test this theory I went on a mission to find (and eat) the best gluten-free frozen waffles.
The good news is, there’s no shortage of gluten-free frozen waffles. I visited Stop & Shop, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and many other grocery stores in my area.
In the sections below I ranked each waffle by taste and accessibility – because I found that some were much easier to find than others.
We all know some GF items taste absolutely horrible – which is why I’m only recommending the very best waffles. So, get your maple syrup ready!
6. Birch Benders
In addition to being gluten-free, Birth Benders waffles are also paleo and dairy-free. So if you have these additional dietary restrictions, these are the perfect breakfast for you.
When it came to flavor, these waffles were a little to earthy for me. If you’ve ever eaten something that’s super healthy, you know what I’m talking about. For a frozen waffle, they’re mediocre at best.
5. Vans
This next one might come as a shock, because some people are die-hard supporters of Vans products. They’re one of the larger sized waffles on this list and you can buy them for a decent price.
But I found the texture to be too gummy for me. I prefer more of a fluffy waffle on the inside and this waffle was just a bit too chewy. The good news is I was able to find Vans waffles in most stores.
4. Banza
Banza Homestyle Protein Waffles are surprisingly delicious. I say this because most chickpea based foods can be a little bland. They’re also packed with 10 grams of protein per serving.
Who knew eating waffles could be so healthy? Even though this this brand pleased my taste buds from the flavor, they were slightly dry. That’s the one downside of swapping flour with chickpeas.
3. Kodiak Power Waffles
Coming up next on our list is Kodiak’s Gluten-Free Power Waffles. These not only taste amazing, but they have 10 grams of protein per serving. Now that’s what I call a hearty breakfast!
My Kodiak Power waffles had the perfect balance for me. Nice and toasted on the outside and soft on the inside. They also had a slight buttery taste (which is essential for me) and they weren’t too dry.
2. Nature’s Path
Nature’s Path is another solid option when it comes to gluten-free frozen waffles. They have plenty of delicious flavors, and one of my favorites is this Pumpkin Spice variety pictured here.
The waffle shell has just the right amount of crunch and the inside is nice and fluffy. I was also able to find Nature’ Path waffles in many of the stores around where I live.
1. Trader Joe’s
In my opinion, Trader Joe’s makes the best gluten-free frozen waffles. They represent that classic breakfast treat we all love. A perfect amount of crunchiness on the exterior and light and airy on the inside.
If you’re lucky enough to have a Trader Joe’s in your area, I highly recommend buying a box of these waffles. Pair them with some Trader Joe’s hash browns (also gluten-free) for a perfect breakfast.
Wrapping Up
If you’re looking for the best gluten-free frozen waffles, Trader Joe’s brand goes above and beyond. To be honest, I prefer their frozen waffles over some homemade ones (yes, they’re that good).
There’s no need to throw in the towel if you don’t have a Trader Joe’s in your area. The truth is, you really can’t go wrong with any of the brands on this list.
I learned in my research that there are a bunch of good GF frozen waffles – you just need to know where to look!
